Summer is up. Despite the increase in heat due to global climate change, families are still on the road to the beach or to the most visited vacation areas around the country. A stop to the north for example. A historical landmark where the ancient ambiance is still preserved, Vigan. From the starting point of Calle Crisologo up to the end at Vigan Cathedral, cultural houses align straight with souvenir shops, eateries, and food stands. A kalesa ride was also available to ride on for anyone who wanted a more sophisticated experience of history. Did you know that Vigan was an Island a long time ago? It was when the Chinese traders came to the shores of Ilocos to barter. It was from ’em that the word Vigan was coined. Look it up.
Its architecture is the conglomeration of cultural elements from the Philippines, China, and Spain, making it unique in the world. -wiki
Also within Vigan is the home of animals taken from the wild. Zebras, deers, lions and what else you call them. A wide hectare of land spread afar for the speedy ostriches and adorable ponies to ride on, for children only of course. Check out some photos I took when we went there last April:

Our family on my father’s side lives on the inner part of Ilocos Sur, where we spent our night right after a long day at Vigan. On the rest of our quick vacation, we managed to take a swim at Sta. Maria’s good old clean beach and enjoy a full load of provincial food fest. It was a well spent weekend with the family.
